The story behind Home Grown Bloggers is one of organic growth. Kirsten Thompson, the founder of Home Grown Bloggers and Sweet Tea, LLC, has long desired to bring together groups of local bloggers for the purposes of hands-on education & community building.
A Seed Was Planted…
In the fall of 2015, Kirsten discovered a gorgeous farmhouse near her hometown in North Georgia and suddenly, the idea for a blog retreat was born! After some trial and error, Kirsten realized that the farmhouse, while beautiful, was not the ideal location for a blog retreat, nor could she handle the responsibilities of organizing such an event on her own.
The Seed Took Root…
Kirsten connected with Kelley Wilson, the blogger behind Miss Information Blog, at a blog conference in Arizona, but discovered they both live in the Atlanta area! After hearing of Kirsten’s idea for intimate blog retreats, Kelley was in! The women joined forces, combining their talents and strengths to create an amazing community of Atlanta bloggers!
A Flower Blooms…
Kirsten and Kelley now host monthly networking lunches on the second Wednesday of each month, as well as small blog retreats around the Atlanta, GA, area. Bloggers outside of the Atlanta area are also invited to attend these events!
With one successful retreat under their belts, Kelley & Kirsten are hosting a Fall 2017 retreat all about blog monetization, and already have 4 retreats on the calendar for 2018!
